The Hawkes Racing team has decided to return promising three-year-old Moshe to Melbourne following his defeat in last Saturday’s Listed Fireball Quality at Rosehill.
Black Caviar’s little brother missed a place as a $1.95 favourite in the $100,000 race but co-trainer John Hawkes said the stable was pleased with Moshe’s performance.
“I thought he ran well,” Hawkes said.
“He is a lightly-raced colt with plenty to learn and he only got beaten a bit over a length at his third start. We were happy with that.”
Hawkes said the stable would give Moshe time to recover from his Sydney exertions before the team takes the son of Bel Esprit back to the races later this month.
“There is a nice race at Moonee Valley at one of the Friday night meetings coming up,” Hawkes said.
“It’s over 1000 metres for good prizemoney so we’ll probably take him there.”
