Black Caviar's little brother All Too Hard could make his Sydney debut on Saturday with trainer John Hawkes to nominate the expensive colt for the Todman Stakes at Rosehill Gardens.
Nathan Tinkler's unbeaten galloper is second favourite for the $3.5 million Golden Slipper and his chances of running in the prestigious race could hinge on whether he runs in the Todman or saved for the Pago Pago Stakes a week later.
'We'll enter him for Saturday, but then we'll just see. It's more than likely he'll run in the Pago Pago," Hawkes said.
"He's come through the (VRC) Sires well, he travelled up (to Sydney) well.
"He's fine, but whether we get there (the Slipper) we'll just wait and see."
If Team Hawkes decide to run All Too Hard in the Todman Stakes, his chances of running in the Golden Slipper a fortnight later would escalate. But contesting the Pago Pago Stakes, which Hawkes is obviously favouring, could rule out the Golden Slipper with the Sires' Produce Stakes and Champagne Stakes over the longer journeys becoming attractive options.
All Too Hard, purchased for $1.025 million as a yearling, was elevated to $6 for the Golden Slipper after recording a dominant win in the VRC Sires Produce Stakes last start.
Gai Waterhouse's top colt Pierro is set to run in the Todman Stakes with Nash Rawiller booked to ride. He was was also $6 equal second favourite for the Golden Slipper after a an impressive win in the Silver Slipper.
Corey Brown has picked up the ride on the Gerald Ryan trained Amorino.
"He trialled well last week and it is time to stand up and see how good he is against the best colts going around," Ryan said.
The Group 1 Ranvet Stakes is set to be a terrific contest with Shoot Out and Rangirangdoo meeting Caulfield Cup winner Southern Speed and Australian Cup winner Americain.
Blake Shinn is booked to ride Trusting in the Ranvet, Glyn Schofield is due to partner Hawk Island and Damien Oliver will ride Wall Street.
