Champion’s brother to run in trial

All Too Hard is the name billionaire racing fanatic Nathan Tinkler has given to Black Caviar's little brother.

Tinkler's Patinack Farm operation forked out $1 million for the Casino Prince colt out of Helsinge, outbidding Black Caviar's owners and Peter Moody at the Australian Easter Yearling Sales last year.

Team Hawkes, which comprises John and his two son's Michael and Wayne, is preparing the famed youngster, who is still among the 64 two-year-old's entered for the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes.

The Patinack Farm team is expecting All Too Hard to have his first public trial in the coming week.

"I don't think there is much of a story behind the naming of the horse," Patinack Farm chief executive Peter Beer said. "Nathan (Tinkler) likes to have some input but I am not aware of any specific reasons why he called the colt All Too Hard."

TAB Sportsbet Fixed Odds rate him an $81 chance to win the Blue Diamond. While hopeful, Beer said time was against them getting the well-related galloper to Melbourne's feature two-year-old race.

"The horse is totally in John's hands and we are not putting any pressure on him to get the horse to a specific race," Beer said.

"By all reports he seems to be doing everything right at this stage but he hasn't really been asked for any real effort, so we will know more once he trials and then goes to the races."

Blue Diamond favourite Malasun will attempt to keep the $1 million bonus alive by running in the Prelude at Caulfield on Saturday. The Melbourne Racing Club offers a $1 million bonus if a horse can win the Preview, Prelude and Diamond.
