Dual acceptor – Moshe decision

Arguably the most interesting dual acceptor over the weekend is the highly touted Moshe, Black Caviar’s full brother, and the Hawkes Racing team have made their decision on where he will run after accepting at Friday night’s Moonee Valley meeting and Rosehill on Saturday.

Hawkes Racing co-trainer Michael Hawkes said the barrier draws were the deciding factor in their decision to remain in Sydney to contest the Listed Fireball Quality (1100m) at Rosehill.

“He drew awkwardly [barrier six in a field of seven] at Moonee Valley and drew perfectly [barrier two] at Rosehill,” Hawkes said.

“The horse is here in Sydney so he’ll stay here.”

Hawkes said the undefeated three-year-old has pleased the stable since his impressive barrier trial win at Rosehill on February 15.

“He is a restricted class galloper, it’s a tougher level with some handy horses to beat,” he said.

“He’s done well since the trial, he’s drawn well and we’ll see how he goes.”
