Easy does it for Black Caviar's little brother All Too Hard

IT'S an impossible act to follow, but all you can do is win and that's what All Too Hard, half-brother to champion Black Caviar, did on debut in the Talindert Stakes at Flemington.

A $1.025 million yearling, All Too Hard delivered a most impressive performance to win the Listed Race, but Team Hawkes quickly dismissed any suggestion the colt would back up in Saturday's Blue Diamond Stakes.

Wayne Hawkes said the $3 million Golden Slipper at Rosehill in April was a "possibility", but the best of All Too Hard would not be seen until he was a three-year-old.

Hawkes said the interest in All Too Hard caught him by surprise.

"I don't think I've ever seen this many people here for the first race," he said.

Asked about the Diamond, Hawkes said: "Definitely not. Whether we'll go back to Sydney now who knows, but there's races like the (AJC) Sires and Champagne.

"But he's not the horse to be backing up week-to-week. I know Redoute's Choice did and he was pretty special. I'm not saying this bloke is not, but it's not in his nature."

All Too Hard, drifted from $2.25 to $3.30 before firming late to start $2.90, scored by 1 1/2 lengths from Liberty Rock ($6), with 1 1/4 to Timely Truce ($13) third.

John Hawkes described All Too Hard as a "nice horse" who would furnish into a "late two-year-old, nice three-year-old".

Hawkes said what All Too Hard had produced was a bonus.

Jockey Dwayne Dunn added to aura about the colt with his declaration this son of Casino Prince rated among the better juveniles he had ridden.

"He's up there with the best," Dunn said.

"I don't know which direction Team Hawkes will go with him, but I'm happy to go anywhere to ride him.

"He's a lovely horse, everyone connected thinks he's going to be a solid three-year-old. To do that was very good. It took me a little while to reel in Chris Symons' horse (Lil Red Corvette), but once he got balanced up he put them away quickly."
