Maluckyday on track for Chipping Norton

A solid performance in a Rosehill trial on Tuesday has Maluckyday on target to resume this Saturday in the Group I Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) at Warwick Farm.

Maluckyday was given a hit out in a 900 metre trial that consisted of Doncaster Mile winner Rangirangdoo, Demerit and Danza Doll.

Maluckyday chased home the Anne-Marie Rutley-trained Syreon in the trial to three-quarters of a length, with Rangirangdoo in third a half-head away in the time of 55.49 seconds.

“He went good, he went super,” co-trainer Michael Hawkes said.

“He jumped good, travelled well up behind the speed and found the line.

“We’ll see how he pulls up, but at this stage, he’ll be running on Saturday.”

Meanwhile, the David Payne-trained Defiant Dame won a 900 metre trial in preparation for the Gimcrack Stakes winner’s return on Saturday in the $100,000 Lonhro Plate (1100m) at Warwick Farm.
