Rosemont Stud - Victoria

Rosemont Stud is a 1000 acre horse farm with the best of both worlds. Set at the foot of the rolling Barrabool Hills, its northern border is the gently flowing Barwon River with rich banks lined by magnificent century old red gums.

The land offers extremely fertile soil with an ability to grow outstanding pasture all year round. Spelling racehorses, broodmares and young stock enjoy a mixture of horse specific rye/clover mixed pasture or pure lucerne paddocks. Just 50 minutes from Flemington on the western side of Geelong, the property has been made the home for many city stable spelling horses and a raft of breeders keen to tap into the unique mix of rolling hills and river flats. The farm has been all but re-fenced in the last five years with safe plastic Horserail used extensively.

With a French-provincial style 10 box barn plus loose boxes with adjoining spelling paddocks for another 8 horses, the farm has been set up to also provide the flexibility to trainers and owners to spell horses in either big open paddocks (up to 32 acres!) or safe individual paddocks around 2 acres in size. Growing its own hay, Rosemont is meticulous about quality control for all feed programs with horses hard fed up to three times a day on an as-needs basis.
