All Too Hard proved his debut win in the Listed Talindert Stakes (1100m) was no fluke when the exciting colt crushed his opposition in the Group II VRC Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) at Flemington.
The half-brother to champion mare Black Caviar impressed with his February 18 win but the colt showed great improvement at his second start, exhibiting the benefits of race experience and the rise to 1400 metres.
All Too Hard settled with three behind him in the early stages before jockey Dwayne Dunn allowed the youngster to improve approaching the home turn.
The two year-old cruised up to his opposition at the 300 metres before Dunn asked for a brief effort, which proved enough to end the race as a contest as All Too Hard dashed five lengths clear.
Dunn sat up on All Too Hard with 50 metres to run but the two-year-old still had a decided advantage over Pronto Pronto and Road Trippin on the line.
All Too Hard's co-trainer John Hawkes described the horse as "one of those special colts” but remained non-committal about a Golden Slipper start for the $1.025 million purchase.
"We have trained a lot of colts over the years and he is certainly is up there with them,” Hawkes said. "We have taken him along quietly and he is doing all of the talking.
"We'll see what happens, we won't rush into anything. Possibly, he may or may not, it will be 50-50.
"We don't rule anything out.”
